1. Practice Properly
Practice does not always make perfect. With that in mind, it is important to know how to practice poker properly. That does not mean play as many hands and tables as you can. Reinforcing your leaks and mistakes is something we definitely want to avoid as it is really difficult to change up play styles that you become comfortable with over periods of time. To improve overtime, you want to spend time reviewing old poker hands (hand analysis). Analyze each play: preflop, flop, turn, and river. Make sure you analyze table position, bet sizing, hud statistics and etc. Know what you did correctly and what you should do in the future.
2. Forum Participation
I cannot stress enough how important it is for active participation in poker forums such as flop turn river, two plus two, or even cardrunners. The more active you are in the forums, the more exposure you get to difficult hand situations and poker strategies. Poker Forums open up a variety of different online poker strategies and critical thinking way faster than you can data mine on your own. Contribute to forums and you will receive feedback and positive returns in the future (making money through poker). Take the time and invest your time wisely!
3. Poker Analytic Tools
Using HUDS is absolutely crucial for any poker player looking to take their game to the next level. I strongly recommend Heads-Up Display (HUDS) for any player $25NL and Up. If you don't, then most other regulars will already have an advantage on you. Definitely consider investing in this poker software if you plan on a successful grind in the future.
4. Play Less Hands.
If you find yourself hitting cold streaks from time to time, try playing less hands. Decreasing your opening hand range is, statistically speaking, +expected value (EV). Makes sense to play better cards that have better value per $. Don't be a poker fish/donk, learn to fold bad hands. Don't play everything that is suited! Stop chasing flushes or any other draws when given horrible pot odds and or implied odds!
5. Take a break
Lastly, sometimes it's always best to just take a break from poker. Online poker will always be there, and regardless of whether you have the perfect poker strategy or not, it will always be mentally grueling. Take a break from poker time to time and enjoy other things related to it. That way you will re-motivate yourself and regenerate. Try watching poker videos!
These are just a few of the top tips to winning online poker. There are SOOO many more that cannot be covered in a single post.
